Why ZephyrLifeOS doesn't link your bank account

Nearly every budgeting app you'll find starts the same way: connect your bank, and it pulls in your transactions automatically. It's fast, and for a lot of people it's exactly what they want. ZephyrLifeOS doesn't do that, on any tier, and that wasn't an oversight — it's the actual design.

Why manual entry, on purpose

Linking a bank account means handing your credentials, or at least a token that can read your full transaction history, to a third party. Most of the time that's fine. Sometimes it isn't — a service shuts down, gets acquired, has a breach, or just quietly starts doing something with your data you didn't sign up for. Manual entry removes that entire category of risk, because there's nothing to link in the first place.

The tradeoff is honest: typing in an expense takes longer than having it appear automatically. That's a real cost, and I'm not going to pretend it isn't. But nothing about your actual bank accounts ever leaves your control, on the free tier or the paid one.

Who this is actually for

Not everyone wants this tradeoff, and that's fine. If automatic transaction import is the feature you care about most, there are good apps built around that. ZephyrLifeOS is for people who'd rather spend twenty seconds logging an expense than connect their bank to one more service.

What it means in practice

Every number in the app — expenses, budgets, the balance sheet on Premium — is something you typed in yourself. No transaction sync running in the background, no read access to your real accounts, nothing to revoke later. It's slower on day one. It's also just yours.
